By Sandra Van Dong-DeLaRonde, Founder, and Alana Rigby, Co-Founder, KO Yoga
KO Yogis – we’ve had so much fun getting to meet you and flow together this summer.
Whether you’ve come to one class or rarely miss a week, KO Yoga is designed for you. We appreciate you joining our community and taking a chance on this different approach to yoga.
Fall schedule starts Sept 15
This fall we are growing from two weekly classes to eight free weekly classes!
Sandra has been working hard behind the scenes to connect with venues and amazing local teachers. Our fall schedule launches September 15.
Here’s where you can find us:
- Sunday 10AM: Yoga at Forbes Motors with Julie or Sandra
- Sunday 7:30PM: Myofascial Release at Forbes Motors with Alana or Megan
- Tuesday 12PM: Fun Flow at Bridgeport Community Centre with Alana
- Tuesday 7PM: Restorative (75 minutes) at The Yurt KW with Anastasia, Julie, or Megan
- Wednesday 10 AM: Fun Flow at the Bridgeport Community Centre with Sandra
- Thursday 8PM: Yoga at the Bridgeport Community Centre with Sandra
- Friday 10AM: Mom and Baby at the Bridgeport Community Centre with Amanda
- Saturday 10AM: Fun Flow at the Yurt KW with Sandra
You’ll notice the classes have some new names. This fall, we’re exploring some different class styles. Here’s how they breakdown:
- Yoga: If you attended a KO Yoga class this summer, you’ll know they are typically gentle flows with a few options for challenge. This is what you can expect in any class labelled ‘yoga.’
- Myofascial Release: If you attended Alana’s classes where she provides tune-up balls for self massage, you know what to expect from these classes. Slow stretching will alternate with self-massage using props we provide.
- Fun Flow: A dynamic and upbeat yoga class that offers options for challenge.
- Restorative: A very slow, relaxing practice where you use many props to explore long holds in restful postures.
- Mom and Baby: A class designed to strengthen the bond between you and your little one, to explore post-natal recovery, and to find mindful movement
For detailed class descriptions, see the classes page on our website.
New site for class registration
All classes are FREE but we do require registration. See our brand new booking site (no more Google forms, huzzah!).
You will be asked to make an account on the site once. You can use that account to manage all bookings.
Sponsor shoutout
We know we’re a little different from your average yoga experience. Free? Everyone asks ‘what’s the catch’ – how are classes free?
We have our sponsors to thank for that – local organisations who believe in giving back to their community.
So big thanks to our summer class sponsors:
We want to honour more than just the physical practice of yoga. By building accessible classes and connecting folks in our community, we want to shift the culture around yoga and to go back to its roots as a tool of liberation.
Be a part of this movement with us.
